Pastor Josh here.
Pastor Josh:I would like to give you a preview of our Sunday morning service on November 10th here at Middletown Baptist Church.
Pastor Josh:This week we're going to continue our study in Second Corinthians, chapter seven.
Pastor Josh:We're going to start in verse number two.
Pastor Josh:And Paul is talking here about how he, to the best of his ability, has tried to be honest and open here with the church at Corinth.
Pastor Josh:And he says, I've been bold in speaking the truth to you.
Pastor Josh:I'm excited for what God is doing in your life.
Pastor Josh:And he talks about in verse number four, he is filled with comfort and he has joy even in the midst of the tribulation that he faces.
Pastor Josh:He goes on to explain to the church at Corinth why he has been comforted.
Pastor Josh:And really essentially what it is is that Titus, a fellow that worked with Paul.
Pastor Josh:And we will talk more about Titus on Sunday morning.
Pastor Josh:Titus was able to be comforted of God through the ministry of Paul.
Pastor Josh:And then Titus went on to comfort the church there in Corinth.
Pastor Josh:And so Paul was just explaining how comforting it is to see God's comfort working through the ministry and into the people.
Pastor Josh:And so he says, this brings me joy even in the midst of difficulty.
Pastor Josh:And so what does that mean for us?
Pastor Josh:That means this.
Pastor Josh:We can rejoice even in the midst of difficulty because of the comfort of God.
Pastor Josh:2 Corinthians chapter 1 mentioned the idea that God is a God of all comfort.
Pastor Josh:And as God comforts us, so is the challenge for us to comfort others.
Pastor Josh:And so verse number seven of Second Corinthians, chapter seven, he says at the very end, he says, you know, I have rejoiced all the more there.
Pastor Josh:This has been consolation for me that Titus was comforted by God, comforted by his presence, and then ultimately comforted them.
Pastor Josh:And so we as Christians are to seek after the comfort of God and look to how we can comfort others in the midst of their hardships, their tribulations, as this passage says.
Pastor Josh:And ultimately that should bring us joy, the joy of God in the midst of circumstances that might not be considered joyful in the eyes of the world.
Pastor Josh:And so encourage you to be here this Sunday to hear about this message, the joy and the comfort, the joy and the comfort.
Pastor Josh:Well, if you're not able to be with us in person, you can follow us on YouTube or Facebook and see the live stream and you can hear the podcast of this sermon on Monday morning following the service on Sunday.
Pastor Josh:Well, thank you.
Pastor Josh:God bless.
Pastor Josh:Have a wonderful weekend.
