Pastor Josh Massaro takes listeners on a reflective journey in the sermon preview for October 27, 2024, at Middletown Baptist Church, focusing on the theme of being 'out of this world.' As he delves into 2 Corinthians chapter 6, he emphasizes the importance of distinguishing oneself from worldly influences and aligning with God's truths. The pastor brings to light the Biblical exhortation not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, prompting listeners to contemplate their relationships and the impact of those ties on their spiritual lives. He stresses that while interaction with the world is inevitable, believers are called to maintain their identity as the temple of the living God, urging them to come out from among worldly practices and remain separate. This call for separation is not merely physical but spiritual, highlighting the necessity of prioritizing divine values over transient worldly desires. Pastor Josh encourages the congregation to examine what their hearts truly long for—whether it’s the fleeting pleasures of the world or the everlasting truths of God—and invites everyone to join the service, either in person or online, to explore these vital themes together.

Pastor Josh:

Pastor Josh here.

Pastor Josh:

I would like to give you a preview of our Sunday morning service on October 27th here at Middletown Baptist Church.

Pastor Josh:

The title of our sermon is out of this World.

Pastor Josh:

We're going to be looking at Second Corinthians, chapter six, and what Paul has to say about loving the world and how as believers, the challenge sometimes is that we love the world more than we love the things of God.

Pastor Josh:

The Bible tells us in this case in verse 14 of 2 Corinthians, chapter 6, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers?

Pastor Josh:

For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness, and what communion hath light with darkness?

Pastor Josh:

We're going to explore the topic of what it means to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.

Pastor Josh:

Certainly there is an opportunity for us to be in the world and know unbelievers, but the Bible clearly talks about how we should be separated from those ways.

Pastor Josh:

And then we see later on in verse number 16, he says, in what agreement with hath the temple of God with idols?

Pastor Josh:

For ye are the temple of the living God.

Pastor Josh:

So he refers to what he talks about in First Corinthians that we as Christians are the temple of God.

Pastor Josh:

Why would we mingle the temple of God with idolatry?

Pastor Josh:

And so in verse 17 he says, Wherefore because of this, come out from among them and be separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you.

Pastor Josh:

And so we're going to study that topic of what it means to be living in this world, but not to be of this world.

Pastor Josh:

Our hearts sometimes are longing for the things of this world, and God says, no, your hearts should not be longing for those things, they should be longing for me.

Pastor Josh:

Our hearts should be longing and desiring after the truths of God and his work in our life.

Pastor Josh:

So I encourage you to listen to the sermon.

Pastor Josh:

If you can come in person.

Pastor Josh:

ould love to have you here at:

Pastor Josh:

But I encourage you to be a part of this because I think it's a really challenging lesson for all of us to study here in Second Corinthians chapter six.

Pastor Josh:

Well, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Pastor Josh:

We look forward to hearing from you.

Pastor Josh:

We look forward to seeing you, and we pray that God gives you a great day in the Lord today.

Pastor Josh:

Well, God bless.

Pastor Josh:

We will see you soon.
