On October 13, Middletown Baptist Church will host a compelling sermon led by Pastor Josh Massaro, centered on the teachings of the Apostle Paul from 2 Corinthians Chapter 6. This week, Pastor Josh emphasizes the essential qualities of a successful minister of the gospel, starting at verse 3. He asserts that every member of the church is called to be an ambassador for Christ, equipped with a powerful message for the world. However, he critically examines common misconceptions about success in ministry, positing that it is not about achieving fame or avoiding suffering, but about being faithful to God’s mission in the face of adversity.

The conversation turns to the concept of endurance, a vital trait for Christians navigating the complexities of life and ministry. Pastor Josh:

Pastor Josh here.

Pastor Josh:

I would like to give you a preview of our Sunday morning service on October 13 here at Middletown Baptist Church.

Pastor Josh:

We're going to be continuing our sermon series in two corinthians.

Pastor Josh:

We will be in two corinthians, chapter six.

Pastor Josh:

And we're going to start in verse number three.

Pastor Josh:

We're going to see what Paul says through the inspiration of scripture about what it means to be a successful minister of the gospel.

Pastor Josh:

Now, all of us are called to be ministers.

Pastor Josh:

All of us are called to be ambassadors, as we saw in chapter five.

Pastor Josh:

And as ministers of the gospel, we have a message to preach to the world.

Pastor Josh:

We have a message to display to the world.

Pastor Josh:

And so anytime we do something for God, we are called to be successful.

Pastor Josh:

But the true test is what are we defining success as?

Pastor Josh:

Is success, popularity?

Pastor Josh:

Well, this passage of scripture is going to tell us, no, it's not popularity is success, painlessness.

Pastor Josh:

No, the Bible says that there is going to be pain, there's going to be struggles.

Pastor Josh:

And so what Paul is going to describe here in this passage is the true test of success is faithfulness.

Pastor Josh:

And how can we be faithful?

Pastor Josh:

Well, we can be faithful through having patience or endurance.

Pastor Josh:

And so we're going to look at this week what it means to be a Christian who is focused on enduring difficulties, to present ourselves faithful to God in the midst of ministering to him with that message of the gospel.

Pastor Josh:

Sometimes it's not easy to exercise endurance.

Pastor Josh:

It's not easy to be patient.

Pastor Josh:

But the Bible says that that is something that we must have in our life as the focus, because as the Bible tells us in many occasions, God calls us to exercise that patience, to that endurance, so that we can keep our eyes fixed on the eternal rewards and not those that are here and now on this side of heaven.

Pastor Josh:

So I encourage you to come out and learn from scripture what it means to be a faithful minister of the message of the gospel and how we can have endurance as christians here today.

Pastor Josh:

So I'll be praying for you, hope to see you this weekend.

Pastor Josh:

If you're not able to be there in person, we will be replaying this on Monday morning.

Pastor Josh:

And also we'll be live streaming on YouTube and on Facebook.

Pastor Josh:

Take care.

Pastor Josh:

Have a wonderful weekend.
